Who Are We?

Explorer – 1 was founded in 2009 by a firefighter paramedic who firmly believes in the importance of quality, efficient, and professional patient care and medical transportation services.

With an idea and a commitment to community service, Explorer – 1 was established to be a highly responsive company that would react quickly to the everchanging medical industry while ensuring that its core values focused on a higher quality of care and professional services.

Explorer – 1 main goal is to ensure that patients, health care partners, event promoters and communities that utilize our wide range of professional services receive the quality of care they would expect and deserve.

Explorer -1 founder passionately believes that part of the companies mission should strive to be a strong pillar within the communities it serves. Being a product of his community of Compton, the founder established the company to provide professional ambulance and medical services, employment opportunities, outreach, mentoring, and training to enhance the many communities considered to be “underserved” communities.  

The founder envisioned Explorer – 1 being the preferred provider of choice-creating access for communities to the appropriate level of care, facilities, and services that could facilitate a  better outcome and increase the quality of life within many communities through prompt, efficient, proficient, professional, and reliable services.

Explorer – 1 instituted a training/intern and mentoring program while providing gainful employment to achieve these goals. The program’s main pillars focus on: mentoring, training, outreach, and continuous education, to recruit the best potential team members. The interns could be gainfully employed while receiving mentoring and continuous training, creating a solid foundation and principles to prepare each team member to access higher career opportunities for individuals exploring future careers in the fire, police, military, and medical services.

Team Members are expected to provide compassionate, respectful, and dignified service to their patients and healthcare partners while maintaining Explorer -1 core values: “Honor, Dignity, Pride.”

Explorer – 1 Requires all team members to observe the established company policies, standards of care, and core values in place. Explorer -1 mission statement incorporates and serves two purposes: first-and-foremost, to facilitate emergency and non-emergency medical transportation and access for patients and healthcare partners to quality health care while providing a higher level of medical standby support services for event promoters, educational institutions, and venues  serviced by Explorer – 1, and secondly, Explorer -1 will be a good community partner by providing gainful employment, and outreach with a platform to mentor, train, educate, and encourage within our communities; providing access to programs, and resources not ordinarily available within our communities. The programs have specific objectives, educational benchmarks, and goals of mentoring and training team members to prepare, build and motivate them for future career opportunities within the fire, police, military, and medical fields.

Over the past decade, Explorer – 1 has trained many young men and women, of every creed, race, and nationality, who have gone on to become professional EMT’s and Firefighters in multiple jurisdictions throughout Los Angeles County.

Explorer- 1 currently serves many communities within Los Angeles County, providing a wide range of services.

Explorer -1 passionately believes that part of our service mission is dedicated to uplifting, building, and inspiring our communities. Our record remains unparalleled in this high-paced and highly competitive industry toward this critically important goal to provide excellent service combined with intense community outreach and training. On many occasions, you can find Explorer – 1 interacting and giving back within our communities through outreach, training, mentoring, and community service, and feedings.
